Mearns Vintage Vehicle Club started about 1972 when a few locals got together and wanted to preserve some of the old ways of working and the old implements and tools that had been lying around. Most folk would think they were only good for scrap and so the Mearns Vintage Vehicle Club was formed!
The Club thought it would be good to see all the machinery around the Howe O’ Mearns together and let the younger folk see them and see how they worked, and this led to the creation of the Mearns Vintage Vehicle Club Annual Show.
The first meeting was held in the evening at the Drumtochty Arms Hotel, Auchenblae, and the first show was held by kind permission of Charlie Smith at Drumsleed Farm, Auchenblae. It was a successful first show and so it continued to be held at Drumsleed every year. As time went on, it got bigger, with more people taking an interest and owning vintage tractors, engines and tools.
From 2015 we have joined forces with The Fettercairn Show and hope we are still doing what we wanted to do when the club started in 1972 by keeping the old methods and machines alive for all to see.
